Cairns

The next few days we spent catching up on school work while Bryce and Heath went back to school.
We also spent time with Grandad and Grandma and swimming in the pool at the caravan park.

In the afternoon Mars took the boys to a local swimming hole where they had a lot of fun.

The following day we spent the morning doing some more school work followed by a swim in the pool.

In the evening we had dinner with Dean and Kate Visser and their family and enjoyed getting to know them and sharing tips as they planned to travel / move back to WA.

On our way back home we saw a big olive snack slithering off the road, which was cool.

On Thursday, after we dropped Bryce and Heath off at school, we drove up to Kuranda and met Grandad and Grandma there.

We spent an enjoyable morning there browsing the shops and eating different food. After lunch we made our way back into Cairns via Barron Falls. It had minimal water flowing.

In the evening we had dinner with Sjaak and Cheree in their beautiful home. As Chad wrote in his diary 'It was a drama at first then it was alright.' We had barely walked in the door and the dogs barked scaring Rowan. Mars walked back out to take a phone call and then the dog started to chase Brenton who ran into the glass sliding door. As the kids went outside the dog chased Rowan who ran straight into the pool fence!

Egg heads and bruised egos aside, we had a very enjoyable night, the kids had a swim in the pool too!

Crystal Cascades

Monday was the last day of holidays for Bryce and Heath.  In the morning Mars took them fishing on the river. Bryce took his cast net and he was busy trying to catch fish with that.

Bryce and Mars were interviewed by a local reporter, asking their opinion on the local croc that was becoming too 'friendly' with the fisherman.  Bryce did a great job!  Unfortunately, there was no fish though.

In the afternoon Bryce went out with Vernon and Mars took Chad, Karli, Brenton and Heath to Crystal Cascades, a nearby swimming hole with a natural water slide.

The waterfall was about a 10 minute walk from the car through the forest.

We finished the day with dinner followed by bed.

Weekend in Cairns

On Saturday Grandma and I (mum) did some shopping around the local shops! Shopping is something that we just don't do while travelling (only out of necessity!).  Dad spent the morning with Grandad at the caravan park, drinking coffee and taking the kids for a swim in the pool.

In the afternoon we packed up the van and moved it to Matt and Wilmas front lawn. The plan was to live in their house while they flew back to Perth for a week.

Mars dropped them off at the airport in the afternoon and we all enjoyed the luxury of a HOUSE!

On Sunday we went to church early to help set up the hall.  After the first service we stayed for coffee and then communal lunch, followed by the second service and practising some new songs.

Once the hall had been cleaned up we left and spent some time swimming in the pool.  Chad and Brenton had a lot of fun playing with Bryce and Heath!
