After doing some school work we walked / scootered along the river and over the swinging bridge and then strolled through town, browsing through the galleries. We stopped at a 2nd hand book shop to look for some kids books. After choosing a few for Chad we decided to leave, Rowan raced out to Mars while I paid. As we left the shop I see Rowan proudly showing Mars his new books! The little thief had run past us all and was pretty proud of his new possessions. So we quickly returned those books - whoops!
We made our way back to the caravan and hooked up and made our way through Sheffield to a place called Tasmazia (located in a town called Lower Crackpot). It's a large property with a number of different hedge mazes. We had some lunch then prepared to head in! Along the way there were numerous little signs with quirky sayings on them - to keep you amused and so you know if you've been there already. There's also a list of different things to find.
There are days when these contraptions would come in useful!!!
We strolled through the miniature village of Crackpot - with lots of dodgy sounding businesses!
The kids wandered through a lower hedge maze. They all managed to somehow get lost so Mars and I went in separately to try and retrieve them! It was amusing listening to them calling out 'I'm here!' and waiting for us to magically appear. Helped to bring the 'kid' out in us!
There was a smaller maze for little kids and then another circular maze which got us all confused! From there we headed back into the big maze again to try and locate some of the spots we'd missed (in particular the 3 Bears Cottage). Eventually we found it!

When we managed to exit that maze we wandered through another section where the 'Embassies of the World' were located. It was lots of fun!
We eventually managed to encourage the kids to leave and drove back to Sheffield, 'the Town of Murals'. We stopped first at the Glass Shop where there was a room with interactive displays that the kids could look at (and make them work). The shops also sold marbles. Beautiful marbles. Unfortunately they also looked a lot like lollies so we didn't allow the kids to buy any for the risk of Axel trying to eat them. The kids weren't very impressed!
We managed to convince the kids to leave the Glass shop so we could walk through the Town of Sheffield and explore the many murals. Along the way we came across a Antique/Collectors type shop with a piano out the front. They all had a turn attempting to play that - meanwhile Axel had found a toy pram (walker toy) to push around. He was so happy! The generous shop keeper gifted it to us and he was so happy to be able to walk on his own.
After a walk up and down the main street we got back to the car and headed to the free-camp site in Sheffield. It was quite packed so we decided to keep driving to the next town of Railton to see what those sites looked like. At Railton we found a suitable spot and the kids did some schoolwork.
The kids were amused by the goods train that ran behind our camp - about 8 metres behind our van! We stood on the side of the track and waved to the driver who hooted his horn at us!
