Day trip to Port Fairy

We woke to find the rain had stopped and most of the water had gone from the roads around the caravan park. Clearly Victoria is used to this kind of weather and the water disappears quite quickly!

We had seen that there were Dog Trials on in Port Fairy, where a dog needs to round up 3 sheep and guide them through an obstacle course. It was really interesting!  The kids had even more fun watching the sheep escape from an enclosure!  It was quite humorous... our family were the only young people there... along with 384 over 60's! We felt very young! For lunch we enjoyed a yummy roast and vegies plate - courtesy of the RSL -  followed by dessert and a second round of dessert for the kids! The old dears took a liking to the kids!

We spent some time talking to the dog owners and one of them gave Brenton & Karli a whistle that they could keep as a souvenir and to practise on. It's quite an art to be able to make it whistle!

After lunch we headed out of Port Fairy and took a detour through an old volcano called Tower Hill. There's usually plenty of koalas to be seen.  The kids did see a few which they loved! One of the koalas obviously doesn't leave his tree so a name sign has been placed at the foot of his tree 'Hello, my name is Gary'. If we talk about koalas now Rowan always pipes up - 'are we going to see Gary?'

We spent the late afternoon at a massive park in Warrnambool, with big flying foxes, a large maze (as well as the usual swings and slides) and a stream that the boys could send their leaves down.

And of course, when you stay in a caravan park with a pool it's necessary to have a swim before dinner.
