After church we had coffee and cake (mmmm baking!) then the boys headed over to watch the horses train and then be cleaned up after their races. They sat and watched them for over an hour and really enjoyed it!
After lunch we headed out for a drive to see the lakes. There are two lakes, both in volcano craters. One volcano lake is blue and the other is green. The blue lake holds the water supply for Mount Gambier but the green lake is allowed to be used for recreation - although swimming from the edge is not encouraged due to bacteria levels.
The oldest kids and Mars climbed to a lookout.
For a minute the big kid thought he was 'too cool for kids toys' ;)
From there went to look at the cave in the middle of the city. It's been landscaped to 'pretty' it up and we enjoyed looking in to imagine how deep it would go. Then it started raining so it became a mad dash for the car!
