Eagle Dell (near Goolwa)

Our new camping ground was located about 15 mins out of Goolwa.  It's privately owned by a family who have decided to allow access to campers for cheap camping.  It has been their holiday block where they have camped and built up a huge variety of swings, flying foxes, cubbies and ropes above the creek.

On the afternoon that we arrived Chad had already fallen off the tightrope into the creek and then struggled to get up the muddy bank. Brenton came screaming over while we were setting up, 'Dad, Dad! Chad's fallen in and he can't get out!' He was horrified so it was a good lesson right away that they still had to be careful near the creek!

Early the next morning the kids were on the 'trampoline swing' (an old trampoline with legs cut off hung from a tree - with ground clearance of about 100mm) and Brenton was pushing Chad.  Brenton accidently slipped on the wet ground after a big push then had to lay flat while the trampoline swung back over him! Then he quickly rolled out before it swung back! Great reflexes!!!

Looking a little toothless at the moment!

Then Brenton heads over to the flying fox. An unfortunate backpacker had parked his car a little too close to the run of the rope and Brenton jumps on and manages to scrape across the top of the car. Brenton comes over to tell us and says, 'I did say sorry to the man and he said oh that's alright!' Only Brenton. Mars did go and chat to him later and make sure it was all ok.

After breakfast we started the kids on their schoolwork. It will take some getting used to!!! Lots of patience and lots of blank looks from Mars and I! Haha!

Around lunch time the land owner came and took Mars and the kids on a 'tour' of the property.  He explained some of the history and tree planting that he'd done over the years that he owned it. He also gave some idea of what bird life and animal life was there.

The kids spent the rest of the day enjoying all the different activities, including a giant 'ging' that shoots golf balls or tennis balls.  The kids had a blast with that! Then they had to try walking on a drum or a wooden cable spool. The swing over the creek was a hit for the 'boys'.

There was also a 'secret garden' which the kids could wander through and find all the 'fairy houses' which the owner makes as a hobby.

Everyone slept well that night!
