Leaving Hahndorf

One of the top rated local attractions in Hahndorf was the Beerenburg Strawberry Farm and manufacturing plant. So we packed up the van and went to the Strawberry Farm to do some picking! The kids could've spent hours picking (and eating!) but you still have to buy what you've picked so we had to put a limit on it! The strawberries were delicious - even Mars agreed and was eating his fair share of them too!

So proud of their efforts!

After we washed the strawberry evidence off our faces we walked into Hahndorf Town.  The main street is made up mostly of shops which are naturally aimed at Tourists, so we didn't do much shopping but enjoyed the shops full of Cuckoo Clocks and Leathergoods, as well as the work of local artists.

The German kitchen shop was a hit with their treats (Dutch sprinkles and rolls of zwart wit droppies). They also sold fresh Saukeraut so I bought a small tub for the kids to try. The look on their faces was priceless! Karli quickly spat her mouthful into the garden. Rowan asked for more!!! Chad and Brenton ate it but it was definitely a different taste for them.

We did a quick grocery shop as we were heading to a camp out of town and then sat on a church lawn to eat our sandwiches.

From Hahndorf we drove just past Goolwa to a privately owned rural property which was open to campers.  It was a very windy and hilly drive, Mars told me (I usually sleep in the car!).
