Goolwa

We started the day with some school work with the kids, tackling it a bit differently than the day before - Mars with Brenton and me with Chad & Karli. It seemed to work a little better!

After a bit of school work and a nap for Axel we headed into Goolwa to check out the Nature Playground on the rivermouth. We were a bit shocked to find the place packed with people until it twigged that everyone was out for Australia Day! So we ventured off to the side to the skate / scooter ramp and Chad had a blast on his scooter.  Brenton is still 'suffering' from the loss of his scooter at Denmark so has to be really sweet to Karli to borrow hers! Every now and then she'll let him have a turn!

As we started to think about lunch the local RSL rep come over to tell everyone there was a FREE sausage sizzle! Yay! That suited our budget perfectly!!! Mars copped a shocked look when he went up to ask for SIX sausages!

We managed to convince the boys to leave the skate ramp and had hoped to look for cockles (to use for bait), an activity that had been highly recommended to us by a local fisherman in Coffin Bay. However, there were signs all around the river mouth explaining the high levels of bacteria so we decided against doing that and drove instead to Goolwa Beach.

We drove along the beach and were amazed! It was like a carpark. For at least 3kms there were cars parked up for the day. We weren't prepared to go swimming so we just drove up the beach for a while and then turned around to head back to camp again.

Somewhere in the trees is our camp...

Late in the afternoon some other campers parked near us with 2 little kids - they had bikes - so the kids were fast friends! As it turned out, the couple were both teachers! Yay! So I picked their brain over a few things that I was unsure of from the kids schoolwork.

After a late dinner we caught up with the couple again, turns out they were also Christians and he works for a school founded by a member of the Dutch Reformed Church (many years ago).  We had an enjoyable night with them.
