Mundrabilla to Head of the Bight

Shortly after leaving our camp we came to Eucla (last stop before the border to SA!) - a fabulous roadhouse located on a ridge overlooking the Great Australian Bight. We spent some time here, filling up petrol and a gas bottle, followed by a visit to the Old Telegraph Station ruins. It was built in 1877 - linking WA to the rest of Australia, sending 11,000 messages annually.  The kids loved it as it was a bit like a maze inside.

We travelled on through the Border - YAY! We had made it to South Australia! I think the kids were expecting something grander than the little village that marked the border (Border Village).

And so commenced our trip on the Nullarbor... frequently interrupted by stops to get out and see the majestic cliffs of the Great Australian Bight! Truly spectacular and something that you would never get tired of looking at!  It was quite hazy for the the first photo but it cleared up later in the day.

At the next lookout I (Lieschen) was the designated 'looker'. It was so amazing - I went back to the car and told Mars and the kids how awesome this lookout was - so they all piled out to go and see it while I stayed in the car with Axel and Rowan.

At the next lookout Rowan was asleep so I piled out with Chad, Karli, Brenton & Axel. It was truly amazing. After having only ever known the 'edges' of Australia to be beaches, the cliffs are so different and so spectacular. It's humbling to view them as Gods handiwork!  Axel has starting pulling himself to stand (well, that went quick after only just mastering crawling!!!) and he wasn't going to miss out on the view!

Soon after the last lookout we came to the end of the Nullarbor. This is the original roadhouse that's no longer used but very quaint and cute inside!

We can always rely on Brenton for this sort of stuff. He was climbing a light pole before he found the bike!

YAY! We all made it! :)

We camped at the Head of the Bight gate. It was very windy but we found the door unlocked to this shed so we ate our dinner out of the wind and could enjoy the space of a dinner table!
