Walkers Rock Campground to Drummond Point

Our eager boys were off exploring before we got out of bed so we decided to stay for the morning and let them enjoy the beach and rocks. After pancakes for breakfast Chad took his rod and went fishing for hours! Unfortunately he had little to show for his efforts but he was definitely persistent!

The other kids spent ages playing in the pools of water left by the low tides and eventually came back wet and sandy after (play) fighting with Mars on the beach. They quickly had a snack and headed back down to the beach for some more fun.

Around lunch time Chad finally came walking back from his spot on the beach [starving!!!] and we slowly started packing up - to the kids disgust (to be fair, they haven't ever been happy about leaving any of our camping spots yet!).

Best of friends one minute... best of enemies the next!

On the way out one of the latches broke on the hatch of the van and we were on the main road before we realised that stuff was coming OUT of the hatch! We lost some fishing line and Mars assumed he'd lost a reel as well so we spent some time backtracking to try and locate it. We found the fishing line but never found the reel and once we stopped for lunch Mars realised it was safely stashed further in the hatch. Phew!

We drove into Elliston looking for a bakery however, everything in these little towns shuts early-ish so by 2pm everything is closed!!! We found a beautiful playground for the kids though so quickly made some sandwiches and everyone was happy again (Mars had found his reel by this stage!).

Mars located the Tourist Information and OP Shop (!!) so I picked up a few bits that I'd forgotten when we left home and a stash of books for the kids. It was such a great little shop and we didn't hear the kids in the car for ages = money well spent!!

We drove onto our camping spot for the night - Mars got talking to a local at the park who recommended looking at Drummond Point. It was a beautiful spot - very windy but fantastic views over the pristine white beach and perfect fishing spot... we thought!

Dinner with a view!

We set up and while it was still light we all went down to the beach to try a bit of fishing... we're learning that the fish here are selective with their bait... their preference is for cockles - something we're unfamiliar with! Good thing we're not depending on fish for dinner!

Once everyone was sufficiently sandy and had their fix of fishing we went back up the dune to our camper. It was too windy to try and set up the shower so we had the kids use the tub placed in the van. Amazing how a quick splash of fresh water can make you feel so much better!
