We slept well at Murphys Haystacks and packed up after breakfast to head to a lookout which overlooks a seal colony - called Labatt Point. It has a lookout on the cliff so you can watch the seals without disturbing them. It has become a sanctuary area / nursery for them to raise their young as it's protected from predators by the reef. It was fun to watch and listen to them.
If you have really good eyes you might actually spot some of the pups playing
South Australia has an amazing coastline!
We headed into Venus Bay where we met up [randomly!] with Derek & Debbie Plug! We spent some time looking at the jetty as this place was highly recommend to us as a good fishing spot. No one was having success on the jetty but the people at the fish cleaning station were there for AGES and the pelicans were having a feast! (So I presume that someone caught something!).
We left Venus Bay and drove South to Woolshed Cave and The Tub. The cave staircase was washed away so Mars went down to Chad and Brenton. He didn't take the boys all the way into the cave as there was water flowing out of the cave.
View from inside the cave
We drove past 'The Tub' - a large bowl in the rock where water does come in and out with the tide. It was possible to climb down into the Tub but no one was keen to have to try climb out of it again!
From here we drove to our campsite for the night - called Walkers Rock Campground. It's located in and around an entry point for cars to get onto the beach - basically a big carpark. We found a spot though and after we were set up the kids were keen to go down to the beach. It's a very sheltered bay but also very shallow which made it nice and safe for the kids to get wet without going swimming!
Chad was successful in catching a fish! The boys have been very persistent fishermen with Brenton changing his rigs numerous times on each fishing trip but he hasn't caught a fish yet!
