Karli - our ever-patient babysitter :)
But first we had to desperately do some grocery shopping! We drove back into Ceduna and while Mars dealt with water/toilet emptying at the local dump point, I did some shopping in the local shop. Fruit and vegies have never looked so good! We hadn't bought fresh food since Denmark! Mars picked me up from the shop and we drove to the foreshore for some morning tea.
From there we drove into Smoky Bay and from there we went to Streaky Bay where we stopped for lunch under the shaded area (best idea!) on the beach.
The kids explored and walked in and out of the water until eventually they'd had enough and we drove back into town to see a replica of the biggest shark caught out of Streaky Bay. Brenton walked in without noticing this massive shark then turned back to look at Mars and almost walked into the shark! The shock on his face when he realised was hilarious!
Pretty big crabs around here too!
We left Streaky Bay and drove to our overnight stop at Murphy's Haystacks. They are huge rocks in a farmers field which are named after the farmer Mr Murphy, and they looked like haystacks from the road (spotted by a passenger in a tourbus).
We set up the camper and once again were thankful for our solid van in the gale-force wind! After dinner we walked through the field to the rocks. Clearly they are an exciting thing for scientists but to me they look like big rocks. Ha! The kids had a ball climbing the rocks at sunset (still not used to daylight savings!!!)...
On the way back to the camper we had to walk through a large field - we chose to walk on the car tracks. Brenton was handed the keys from Dad while he took some more photos of the rocks at sunset... Subsequently, while Brenton made his way across said field to the camper the keys mysteriously escaped his grasp and he arrived with NO keys. So the boys made their way back across the field so find the lost keys. Thankfully, what could've been a never ending game of hide and seek for the keys ended reasonably quickly. Phew! Lesson learnt. The kids don't have responsibility of the keys!!!
We then had showers and headed off to bed!
